- A perennial herb with adventitious root up to 80cm tall, found in sub-tropical and temperate zones.
- Plant Description:
- Leaves simple, ovate-elliptic, entire with tapering base. Inflorescence a dense spike,5-20 cm long. Sepals elliptic. Corolla greenish-yellowish white. Fruit a capsule, globose. Seed dark brown.

- June-September.

- July-November.
- Medicinal Value:
- Leaves treat urinary infection, burns, bee stings, hemorrhoids and conjunctivitis. Detoxifying tea is used for treating tubercular ulcers and diarrhea.[5] Locally it is used as astringent and painkiller, also useful in piles, crushed leaves are used to stop bleeding and treatment of insects bites.
