- Leaves simple, alternate, large, heart-shaped, long petiole,hairy on under side.Mature leaves dark-green above,grayish-white below. Inflorescence composed of many globular capitula, united in clusters and surrounded by involucre, forming hook. Flower purple.Fruit an achene with short pappus.
