Habit & Habitat:
A stoloniferous, perennial herb, up to 5-30 cm tall, found in temperate and sub-alpine zones.
Plant Description:
Leaf compound, trifoliate. Leaflet elliptic or obovate, appearing silvery, base round, margin incised serrate. Inflorescence one to many flowered, in corymb-like clusters. Flower actinomorphic, large, white, 2.5cm in diameter. Sepals-5, ovate-lanceolate, acuminate. Petals -5, obovate-elliptic.Fruit aggregate,fleshy, ovoid and red.Achene ovoid.
Flowering and Fruiting:
April-September.
Harvesting Time:
May-September.
Medicinal Value:
Fruit rich in iron and potassium useful in anemia, diabetes, rheumatic gout, kidney and liver disorders. It removes tartar, teeth stains, soothes sunburn, lightens freckles. Astringent leaves make a calming herbal tea and is an oilyskin toner, with roots treats diarrhea and urinary disorders.[5] Locally root extract is used as diuretic, removes toxin from body.
