An erect perennial herb up to 70 cm tall, with numerous stems arising from rootstock, found in temperate and sub-alpine zones.
Plant Description:
Stem leaves ovate-lanceolate to elliptic-lanceolate, basal leaves are scaly, bright green above. Inflorescence a compact, terminal pseudumbel.Cyathium, sessile. Flower surrounded by leaf like attractive yellow bracts. Fruit a capsule,3-lobed,subglobose, smooth, bright green. Seed ovoid, shiny, pale grey, with outgrowth at hilum.
Flowering and Fruiting:
July-August.
Harvesting Time:
August-September.
Medicinal Value:
It is a poisonous plant. Latex is used to cure skin diseases of goat. Locally in small doses used as laxative, cures dysentery, skin diseases, dried leaves are useful in diabetes.

Occurrence:
Uncommon.
