- A perennial, sub erect to spreading herb,common at open places and roadsides in sub-tropical, temperate and sub-alpine zones.
- Plant Description:
- Stem angled and grooved. Leaves oblong-lanceolate, the basal leaves pinnately lobed, the upper entire bract-like clasping, toothed. Inflorescence composed of many capitula which are axillary and terminal,solitary or clustered. Flower blue purple, 2-4 cm across, with spreading ray-florets. Fruit an achene,without pappus.

- Medicinal Value:
- Useful in jaundice, hepatitis, anemia and enlargement of liver. Leaves rich in iron, calcium and copper useful as a blood tonic.[4][6] The leaves are used as vegetable, also used for treatment of gallstones, rheumatism and gout.[9] Locally it is used in fever, jaundice, also as a vegetable and digestive tonic, increases flow of bile and has diuretic properties, eliminates uric acid from body.
