Habit and Habitat:
A perennial herb commonly found at damp places and moist banks in temperate zone.
Taxonomic Features:
Leaves simple, heart-shaped, whitish and hairy below, margin toothed. Inflorescence a capitulum. Flowers appear before leaves. Flower heads 2-3cm broad. Involucral bracts purplish. Ray floret yellow. Disc floret tubular. Fruit a cypsela, pappus white with long and soft hairs.
Flowering and Fruiting:
March-April.
Harvesting Time:
April-August.
Medicinal Value:
Leaves are rich in vitamin C and zinc, its powder is used as herbal tobacco to treat cough, skin ulcers and sores.[5]
