A rhizomatous, annual herb, up to1 m tall, found in sub-tropical zone.
Taxonomic Features:
Leaves simple, lanceolate, dark green with parallel venation. Inflorescence a spike, borne on separate shoot. Flower yellow, coma bracts pink. Fruit red. Seed black.
Flowering and Fruiting:
June-August.
Harvesting Time:
June-October.
Medicinal Value:
Locally powder of rhizome is used as carminative and anti-inflammatory.

Rhizome.

Common.
