Leaves simple, elliptic-oblong to oblong-lanceolate, dull green above, lower surface with ferruginous scales. Flower in axillary clusters of 2-4,silvery-white. Tepals 4, ovate, yellow inside. Fruit a drupe,red, elliptic-ovoid, succulent.

Locally it is used as cardiac stimulant, antipyretic, diuretic,also useful to control high blood pressure. Vitamin C rich fruit is edible.
