A biennial, wooly herb up to I m tall, common along road sides in sub-tropical and temperate zones.
Taxonomic Features:
Leaves simple, alternate, sessile, oblong to ovate-oblong , margin crenate. Inflorescence a spike, 10-30cm long. Flower actinomorphic, yellow, showy, honey scented. Calyx lobes lanceolate. Crolla rotate.Fruit a capsule golobose.
Flowering and Fruiting:
June-November.
Harvesting Time:
June-December.
Medicinal Value:
Root is diuretic.Flowers reduce eczema inflammation. Research has confirmed antitububercular activity in plant extracts. [5Locally whole plant is used as expectorant and liquid extract is used to treat earache.
