Habit and Habitat:
A perennial, spiny climber, found in sub-tropical and temperate zones.
Taxonomic Features:
Stem brown or reddish brown. Leaves compound, imparipinnate, grey or white on under surface. Leaflets 3-7, ovate, elliptic and serrate. Inflorescence terminal, short racemes. Flower actinomorphic, pink. Sepals-5. Petals-5,obovate or elliptic. Fruit aggregate, subglobose, juicy, red-black on ripening.
Flowering and Fruiting:
May-July.
Harvesting Time:
May-October.
Medicinal Value:
Fruit is edible and has minor tranquilizer effect. Red color fruit is a symbol of blood strength and is commonly used as blood tonic in local area.

Fruit and root.
Occurrence:
Very common at high altitudes.
